Sway bar bushings on a Ford van isolate the sway bar from the mounting brackets, preventing the bar from damaging the brackets and dampening vibration transference. Since the bushings are made of rubber, and they incur constant abuse from the van and the environment, they normally wear out much faster than the sway.
Jan ford sway bar bushing removal tool, i am getting ready to do the sway bar bushings. i got a bushing kit from energy suspension and tools required. what i need to know is do i have to use a press of some sort to get the stock ones out or is there another way. any help is appreciated. The thin metal spacers (procteting the bushings) should be on the very top, and very bottom. Now you want to slide the (approx.) 4in grade 8 spacer on the bolt. The spacer will push up against the bushing protector on bottom of the sway bar end.
